When patients have to undergo treatments in PET CT scanners, they can feel claustrophobic at the idea of going through a tunnel, even if their head remains outside of the machine for the duration of the time. Calming digital scenes installed by Sky Inside in the ceilings help patients remain calm and reduce feelings of anxiety created by claustrophobic sensations. Room mood lighting also helps the patients relax during PET CT scans, which means that staff can get the best quality images from the procedure.

“What we don’t want is for patients to be moving during the scan so that we get the best quality pictures. So, the patients get a choice of a selection of scenes that help them relax to the image they want rather than having a set picture. And they can choose the colour of the lighting within the room, which will help them relax as well.” - Paul Murphy, Senior Diagnostic Radiographer - Genesis Healthcare
