‘Touch Screen, Change Scene’ For Royal Berkshire

Back in October 2019, we started working with the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where planning began for an installation project within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Part of the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust, the Reading hospital had chosen our circadian Living Skies for the ICU side rooms. These systems intended to not only improve patient wellbeing but also help reduce the effects of delirium in postoperative patients.

But as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, plans were halted. The installation was put on hold until March 2021 due to the new demands required of the hospital and busy department.

Working with the ICU team, estates and consultants, we took the project online and continued all necessary work intending to complete within a new target time.

We’re delighted that we were able to get everything in place for the hospital in March. The circadian systems come with a simple-to-use touch screen control, which is already proving a hit with staff at the Royal Berkshire. It’s now the standard equipment for all their circadian and non-circadian systems due to the ‘touch the screen to change the scene’ technology.
